Beyond Secrets by Alka Dimri Saklani – Book Review

I’m here with a review of another quick and light read. I guess there are some days where you just want to read simple and fresh stories and ‘Beyond Secrets’ fits the description really well.

Blurb –

Noel is a counsellor, risking his career for volunteering in an orphanage.
Nidhi is an engineering student on the surface, but deep down a broken girl in search of some unanswered questions.
Appu is a sweet little orphan, unaware of the cruelties of the world.
Despite being miles apart their stories interweave in “Aashiyana”, the orphanage. Their little journey together changes their lives in ways they never imagined.
One recurring nightmare, one unexpected phone call, one stolen diary, many lies and secrets, and a calling from the past are just the highlights. And when they depart, they are not the same anymore.
They didn’t hurt each other, it was a game of destiny. Will they ever be able to rediscover themselves and more importantly, will their paths ever cross again?
Beyond Secrets is a novel with layers of suspense and different nuances of relationships. And one question that can’t have just one answer – How long does it take for a scar to heal?

My Review –

Beyond Secrets is a really fresh storyline with a combination of suspense and romance. The storyline is really strong and keeps you hooked on to the book till the end.

I was pulled towards this book after the reading the blurb, which is really interesting.

It is a story of a boy Noel and a girl Nidhi. At the beginning, it feeling like any other love story but as you keep going it starts to unfold effortlessly and beautifully. The author has described relationships and emotions brilliantly. The characters are woven in the plot really well and continue to grow as the story progresses.

The incidents are really relatable and feel real. There are times when you will feel sad or even angry, however, these elements add a spice to the entire story.

The narration is really nice and helps the reader visualize things and make the entire sequence more real. You can really feel the pain and soreness of the characters.

I loved the character of Appu, a child who because of situation and people has to go through the cruelty of this world.

Overall, Beyond Secrets is a fast paced suspense that will keep your attention till the last page.

After reading this I felt that we are so fortunate for what we have in our lives..some people don’t get the love they deserve! I would request everyone to not take things for granted and appreciate that that you have in your lives!

I would recommend it to all who want to quick read with well-defined characters and a good plot.

I would rate it a 4/5.
