Let me start with an honest confession. I bought this book because of a recommendation on Goodreads. When I ordered it I actually thought that I might be wasting my money, but I still bought it. I’m happy I ordered this book because it’s outstanding. I have read a lot of historical thrillers, but this one I think is one of the best I have read by an Indian author. I loved how the story is a combination of present and the past. The entire fusion of present, past, symbols and technology is outstanding. The way two stories are woven together is what makes this book a real page turner.
The story is really fast paced. It revolves around two neighboring kingdoms Chaturanga and Sarprakt. The two kingdoms are rivals and the king of one kingdom conspires against the killing of the throne prince which resulted in the downfall of the kingdom.
In the present day, there is a serial killer on the loose who keeps placing pieces of chess next to every victim. The book is all about the kings and the serial killer. You have to read this book to know more about what happens and if the serial killer is caught.
The way story is written will keep your attention from the first page till you get to the end. An outstanding work is done by the author describing the characters and the scenes. There were times I felt it was all happening in front of me.
I would give it a 4.5/5. There are a few typos which I really did not mind as the story was really fast moving and gripping.
