We took some time off during the last 2 weeks of December and one thing that my husband and I always try to do is to see one or two new cities and to learn.
This time we wanted to see more of Rajasthan and we decided to travel to Jodhpur and Jaisalmer. I will write about all the places that I saw at both these cities. I will dedicate one blog post per different spots that we visited.
We drove from Gurgaon to go to Jodhpur on the 22nd December 2014. Total distance to be covered was 564. We took approximately 9 hrs to reach Jodhpur.
On the way to Jodhpur we crossed Ajmer, but instead of going in the city we took the bypass and on the same road there is a beautiful Jain Temple called ‘Nareli Jain Temple’.
Nareli Jain temple is a new temple constructed in a large area just outside of Ajmer. It’s located 7km southeast of Ajmer on the Jaipur bypass. It’s a nice mix of traditional Rajput and contemporary architecture with 23 miniature temples on the hill top.
This temple has a place to eat which serves almost 500 people every day at a very minimal cost. They serve a true Jain meal (a meal made without onion, ginger and garlic).
